Upcoming Mississippi State Blues Trail marker unveilings

The Mississippi Blues Foundation will be unveiling two new blues markers in its series – Magic Sam and Howlin’ Wolf.

Creating the Mississippi Blues Trail is one of the Mississippi Blues Commission's primary projects. The Mississippi Blues Trail will be composed of scores of historical markers and interpretive sites, and will include locations throughout the state

A distinguished panel of historians and Blues scholars has developed an inventory of the most notable Blues sites. Each will be identified with a distinctive cast marker, featuring high resolution maps, photographs and text. These sites will eventually employ the latest technology to allow visitors to hear the sounds associated with each location. A detailed Blues Trail map will also be available that will provide driving directions, GPS coordinates and basic information for each site.

Calendar:

• Tues., 8/28, 10am - Guitar legend Magic Sam, Grenada, MS. MDA Tourism Heritage Trails Program, the Mississippi Blues Commission and the Grenada Convention and Visitors Bureau will unveil Grenada's first Mississippi Blues Trail marker
• Thurs., 8/30, 1:30pm - Howlin' Wolf, West Point, MS.
